Everest High Passes and Island Peak | 25 days Tour Package

After exploring temples, shrines, bazaars, and restaurants of Kathmandu, we take an exciting mountain flight to Lukla and trek up the Dudh Kosi Valley, surrounded by the soaring peaks of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. It’s a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, capital of the Khumbu Sherpas, where we are again greeted by spectacular mountain vistas. A rest day here aids acclimatization and there are great optional walks to enjoy the area. We then trek into Gokyo Valley and ascend gradually, walking beside the moraines of Ngozumpa Glacier and turquoise lakes to reach Gokyo. From here we can climb Gokyo Ri to view of all of the region’s 8,000 m peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu – a breathtaking panorama. Our trek then heads via Cho La Pass (5,300 m) to Lobuche, where we follow Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep. From here we ascend Kala Patthar (5,555 m) where we experience another breathtaking panorama of Everest and her surrounding peaks.

We also visit the historical site of Everest Base Camp. Now well acclimatized, we cross Kongma La (5,535 m) to Chukhung, to make our attempt on Island Peak. Though technically harder than Mera Peak, this expedition is also well within the reach of anyone seeking their first Himalayan summit. After summiting Island Peak, we return at our leisurely pace back to Namche and Lukla for our return flight to Kathmandu.

After passing through the small village of Ghat (2,550 m), it is a short walk to Phakding.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 04 - TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR (3,441 M) - 5.5 HOURS
We continue trekking along the banks of the Dudh Kosi, crossing the majestic river many times on exciting suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. After entering the Sagarmatha National Park, the trail climbs steeply with breathtaking views. Namche Bazaar (considered the Gateway to Everest) is home to many quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, money exchange services, internet cafes, and bakeries. Namche is the biggest town along the Everest trail.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 05 - NAMCHE BAZAAR ACCLIMATIZATION DAY
We will spend a day in Namche Bazaar in order to acclimatize and adjust to the thinning air. We will trek a short distance to a museum that is celebrated for its exhibits of the traditional customs of the Sherpa people. We will also hike up the Syangboche Airport and the Everest View Hotel, one of the highest-placed hotels in the world. From this point, we can see rewarding views of the Himalayas including Mt Everest.

DAY 06 - TREK TO PHORSTE THANGA (3,680 M) - 5 HOURS
The trail climbs steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forest. Juniper and large conifers start to appear as the elevation increases making the trekking very pristine in spring. The trail passes through Yak Kharkas and summer settlements. The views of Khumbi La and Taboche are magnificent throughout the day.

We cross over at an altitude of 5,300 m where we could be exposed to strong winds if we crossing too late. We start to climb steeply the trail that is regularly used and easy to follow. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. As you reach the top, you are rewarded by the magnificent views, then we descend to the Dzongla at noon. Accommodation in Dzongla will be very basic and in a dormitory-style room because of its remoteness.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 12 - TREK TO LOBUCHE (4,910 M ) - 4 HOURS
A rather easier and shorter trekking route will take us to Lobuche after 4 hours of trekking.

DAY 13 - TREK TO GORAK SHEP (5,180 M), HIKE UP TO KALA PATTHAR (5,555 M) AND RETURN TO GORAK SHEP - 7 HOURS
This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek. Most of this day is spent climbing Mt. Kala Patthar at 5,555 m. The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama possible: Everest, the highest point on the planet at 8,848 m towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. If possible, we can stay and watch the awe-inspiring sunset on Everest and its neighbors. We make a quick descent to Gorakshep, a tiny hamlet at 5,180 m.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 14 - TREK TO EVEREST BASE CAMP (5,365 M) AND RETURN TO LOBUCHE (4,910 M) - 8 HOURS
This is a big and difficult day walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5,365 m, the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. During spring, there will likely be expedition teams about to attempt the summit. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We return back to Lobuche for the night.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 15 - CROSS KONGMA LA PASS (5,535 M) AND TREK TO CHUKHUNG (4,710 M ) - 8 HOURS
From Lobuche, we ascend past a series of small glacial lakes with fine views of Makalu to the south-east. As we are near the pass, we cross glacial moraines before a final rocky scramble which leads to a narrow ridge adorned with prayer flags. The top of the pass is usually very windy. After a short rest, we head down towards the Chukhung Valley. It is a tiring walk today, but the fantastic scenery makes it all very worthwhile.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 16 - TREK TO ISLAND PEAK BASE CAMP (5,240 M) - 4 HOURS
From Chukhung we make a leisurely start following the Imja Valley with great views of Ama Dablam dominating the skyline and follow the moraines that flow from Lhotse (8,501 m) towards the sand flats at Pareshaya Gyab. It is only a short distance from here to the Base Camp, which we will reach in the mid-afternoon. Accommodation will be in a tented camp and you will be having camp food cooked by our professional camping team.

Overnight at a tented camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 17 - ACCLIMATIZATION DAY
We spend a day at the base camp to acclimatize and adjust to the thinning of the air. Our climbing sherpa/guide will provide you pre-ice climbing training to make you skillful on using climbing gears such as ropes, ice pick, harness, crampons etc. We will also have a short trek around the base camp to prepare us for the 6,000 m adventure the next morning.

Overnight at a tented camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 18 & 19 - CLIMB ISLAND PEAK (6,187 M) AND RETURN TO CHUKHUNG (4,710 M)
We have allowed two days to climb the Island Peak, although we will probably not require more than one if weather conditions are fine. The strategy for the climb will be decided by our climbing Sherpa leader at the time, taking into account the group’s acclimatization, weather, snow conditions and other factors. The site of the camp is just below the permanent snowline. In the morning we leave very early for the final climb to the summit. This may take between four to six hours, depending on snow and weather conditions. We will fix a rope on the summit headwall for safety on both ascent and descent. Although it is not a technically difficult climb, the snow slopes are crevassed, the headwall is reasonably steep and a head for heights is useful. To reach the summit, willpower and stamina are required, but the incredible feeling of achievement atop this 6,187 m giant will remain a lifetime memory. The view from the summit is utterly fantastic! Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Makalu and Baruntse are the dominant giants rising above a sea of smaller peaks. Given good conditions, we should be able to descend back to Chukhung from our summit attempt.

Overnight at a tented camp or a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 20 - TREK TO TENGBOCHE (3,860 M) - 6 HOURS
Leaving the mountains behind us, our descent takes us through various towns of Dingboche, Orsho, Shomare and Lower Pangboche to reach the suspension bridge over the Imja Khola River to ascend gradually through Debuche and then to Tengboche.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 21 - TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR (3,441 M) VIA KHUMJUNG (2,780 M) - 5 HOURS
From Tengboche, we descend steeply through beautiful forests of juniper, rhododendron, and fir to Phunki Tenga. After a welcome break and a cup of tea, we cross the Dudh Kosi River and climb to Trashinga. From here the trail contours high above the valley through to Shanasa, where we have the option of visiting Kunde and Khumjung villages before returning to Namche Bazaar – our stop for the night.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 22 - TREK TO LUKLA (2,804 M) - 6 HOURS
This is our last day of trekking as we return to Lukla where the trek began. We enjoy this time to reflect on the trek as a group and the personal achievement of all those who took part. The afternoon is free, so you can wander about, relax and enjoy a hot shower! In the evening, have a few celebratory drinks and dance with your trek mates.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

DAY 23 - MORNING FLIGHT FROM LUKLA TO KATHMANDU
Enjoying the last glimpse of the mountains we have recently visited, the 35 minutes scenic flight takes us back to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu, we are met and transferred back to our starting hotel.

If you are interested in extending the trip, there are many options such as Chitwan jungle safari, river rafting adventure, Kathmandu shopping tour, mountain biking and other activities.

Overnight at a hotel. Breakfast included.

DAY 24 - LEISURE DAY AND FAREWELL DINNER IN KATHMANDU
After exhausting climbing and trekking, this is a rest day for you. Get your body massaged, leisurely stroll around Thamel and buy souvenirs, visit Garden of Dreams for some relaxing time. This is also a spare day to use for a flight back to Kathmandu in case there wasn’t a flight the day before due to bad weather.

And, in the evening we will host farewell dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant with cultural performances.

lionfish or Pterois | Beautiful Creature to See but very dangerous | Never touch them

Also called zebrafish, firefishturkeyfishtastyfish or butterfly-cod, it is characterized by conspicuous warning coloration with red, white, creamy, or black bands, showy pectoral fins, and venomous spiky fin rays. Lionfish are edible if prepared correctly.
Lionfish are known for their venomous fin rays, an uncommon feature among marine fish in the East Coast coral reefs. The potency of their venom makes them excellent predators and hazardous to fishermen and divers. Pterois venom produced negative inotropic and chronotropic effects when tested in both frog and clam hearts and has a depressing effect on rabbit blood pressure. These results are thought to be due to nitric oxide release. In humans, Pterois venom can cause systemic effects such as extreme pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, breathing difficulties, convulsions, dizziness, redness on the affected area, headache, numbness, paresthesia (pins and needles), heartburn, diarrhea, and sweating. Rarely, such stings can cause temporary paralysis of the limbs, heart failure, and even death. Fatalities are common in very young children, the elderly, those with a weak immune system, or those who are allergic to their venom. Their venom is rarely fatal to healthy adults, but some species have enough venom to produce extreme discomfort for a period of several days. However, Pterois venom is a danger to allergic victims as they may experience anaphylaxis, a serious and often life-threatening condition that requires immediate emergency medical treatment. Severe allergic reactions to Pterois venom include chest pain, severe breathing difficulties, a drop in blood pressure, swelling of the tongue, sweating, runny nose, or slurred speech. Such reactions can be fatal if not treated. There is a possibility for a human to be stung without any venom being injected. If venom is injected, the sting will hurt more than just briefly. Lionfish are not aggressive towards swimmers. Most accidents happen to fishermen who happen to catch them.

They are well known for their ornate beauty, venomous spines, and unique tentacles. Juvenile lionfish have a unique tentacle located above their eye sockets that vary in phenotype between species. The evolution of this tentacle is suggested to serve to continually attract new prey; studies also suggest it plays a role in sexual selection.

Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek | 26 days trekking package

Jiri to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar is a highly praised trekking route of the Everest region. It was in 1953 when two renown figures Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Nogey Sherpa had taken the same route for the Mt. Everest expedition.

After an eight hour scenic drive from Kathmandu to Jiri, our trek starts the following morning, by passing through the lower parts of Everest region that are relatively undeveloped compared to the northern side of the district around Namche Bazaar. This enables trekkers to experience many traditional aspects of culture and local people. The trail passes through numerous villages of different ethnic groups including Tamang, Jirel, Rai, Brahmin, Chettri and of course the Sherpa. Walking along this trek involves many ups and downs with the trail being well serviced with tea houses and good campsites in most of the villages.

We cross over at an altitude of 5,300m where we could be exposed to strong winds if we crossing too late. We start to climb steeply that is regularly used and easy to follow. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Included

The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama: Everest, the highest point on the planet at 29,028ft (8,848 m), towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. We make a quick descent to Gorak Shep, a tiny hamlet at 5,180 m then trek down to Pheriche.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Included

DAY 22 - TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR (3,441 M) - 5.5 HRS
From Pheriche, we take a slightly different route down to Orsho then to Pangboche village. Here is the oldest monastery in the region which contains what is said to be the scalp and bones of a Yeti or abominable snowman. Leaving mountains behind us our descent takes us through the Tengboche Monastery at an elevation of 3,860 m before continuing back to Namche Bazaar. We arrive back to Namche Bazaar in the afternoon.

Overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Included

DAY 23 - TREK TO LUKLA (2,804 M) - 6 HRS

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lake and Cho La Pass | 18 days Trekking Package

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes, recognized for the series of beautiful turquoise lakes in the Gokyo valley and the famous Cho La Pass, takes us through the landmarks of the Khumbu region in the company of majestically soaring mountains, friendly Sherpas, colorful monasteries, the Namche Bazaar, the Sagarmatha National Park, and, of course, to the base of the mighty Everest. The trek in advancing to the base of the world's tallest mountain maps out spectacular vistas from such celebrated viewpoints like Gokyo Ri and Kala Patthar. The trek also awards us with great views of the Khumbu Icefall. Trekking to the Everest Base Camp through Gokyo Lakes, in a nutshell, will be a lifetime experience with the enthralling sights of Mt. Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Amadablam, Pumori, and Tengboche Monastery - the largest monastery in the Khumbu region of Nepal.

Trip Details of Everest Base Camp Via Gokyo and Cho La Pass By each day

In the evening there will be a welcome dinner in a traditional Nepali Restaurant where we will be able to enjoy authentic Nepali cuisine with a brief cultural program.
Overnight in Kathmandu.

DAY 02: KATHMANDU: SIGHTSEEING AND TREK PREPARATION
Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, we get our equipment checked by our climbing leader, get introduced to fellow participants, and discuss our trip at the office.
Overnight in Kathmandu.

DAY 03: FLY TO LUKLA, TREK TO PHAKDING (2,651M/8,700FT): 8KM, 3 - 4 HOURS TREK
During the 40-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (9,186ft), we enjoy one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating on a hillside surrounded by high mountainous peaks. At Lukla, a gateway destination from where our trek begins, we meet our other crew members and begin packing and arranging with them. From Lukla, we start trekking. At one hour’s gradual descent, we will be at a Cheplung village from where we have a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila (18900 ft), a sacred mountain which has never been climbed. From Cheplung, we then gradually descend until we reach Phakding and spend the night.

DAY 04: PHAKDING TO NAMCHE BAZAAR (3,438M/11,280 FT): 11KM, 5 - 6 HOURS
Walking through a beautiful pine forest, we follow the trail north up the valley of Benkar. We then cross Dudh Koshi River and go on passing Chumoa to Monjo, the entrance to Everest National Park. Then after crossing a suspension bridge, we pass Jorsale village and walk alongside the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. A steep ascent brings us to the prime heartland of Sherpa village - Namche Bazaar. At one hour’s distance to reaching Namche Bazaar, if the weather permits, we can view the sights of Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse.
Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

DAY 05: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY - NAMCHE BAZAAR: (3,440M/11,284FT)
There are plenty of things to do around Namche Bazaar, and we can spend a day here acclimatizing. Namche Bazaar is the main center of the Khumbu region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and a colorful market. Our guides can take us to explore the real charm of Namche Bazaar. Hiking to Sagarmatha National Park rewards trekkers with a sunrise view and the views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and so on. If we are interested in a day hike, we trek to Khumjung village (12401 ft)-a beautiful village with a Sherpa settlement. In exploring Namche Bazar, we observe traditional Sherpa life, Khumjung Hillary School, and enjoy flora and fauna found at such altitude.
Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

DAY 06: NAMCHE BAZAAR TO PHORTSE THANGA (3,680M/12,073FT): 6KM, 5-6 HOURS
We climb the Khumjung hill and descend to the east of the village down the broad valley leading to the Dudh Koshi from where the route turns north. There are two trails and our guide will choose the best option for us to follow. There is a Chorten on the ridge top at 3973 m which descends from Mt. Khumbila (5761 m). We visit Mohang, the birthplace of the re-incarnated Lama of Rongbuk Monastery of Tibet who is believed to have introduced Buddhism in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The trail descends in a series of steep switchbacks down a sandy slope to the Dush Koshi. We stay overnight in Phortse Tanga, near the river.

DAY 07: PHORTSE THANGA TO MACHHERMO (4,470M/ 14,663FT): 10KM, 4-5 HOURS
From Phortse Thanga it is an uphill climb to Machhermo. We walk on a trail alongside a rhododendron forest and pass through a waterfall before reaching Tongba Village. We continue our uphill trek and pass through Dhole, Labarma and Luza villages before reaching Machhermo. There is a Chhorten right before the Luza village. Throughout today’s journey, we will be walking alongside the Dudh Koshi River.
Overnight in Machhermo.

DAY 08: MACHHERMO TO GOKYO (4,800 M/15,744 FT): 7KM, 4-5 HOURS
We begin today by climbing a ridge for an excellent view down the valley to Kangtaiga and also up towards Cho Oyu (8153 m). The valley now widens as the trail passes through Phangkha, where an avalanche in 1995 killed 40 people. We then descend to the riverbank before climbing onto the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa Glacier on a steep trail. Upon crossing an iron bridge over a stream, the trail levels out as it follows the valley past the first lake, known as Longpongo, at 4690 m. At this juncture, we get a chance to observe lama footprints on a stone. At the sight of the second lake, Taboche Tsho, we become mesmerized by the shimmering turquoise blue sheet of water sparkling in the sun. Little ahead of the second lake, we reach the third lake, the two linked by a surging stream. Gokyo village stands by the third lake and Cho-Oyu Mountain as a backdrop sets an amazing spectacular sight here. After lunch, we explore around the third lake, Dudh Pokhari.
Overnight in Gokyo.

DAY 09: GOKYO VALLEY: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY - OPTIONAL HIKE TO GOKYO RI (5357 M/17,570 FT): 2KM, 3 - 4 HOURS
We will hike to Gokyo Ri, a small peak above Gokyo village, in the morning and savor the fantastic views of the entire Khumbu region. As we ascend, the views become even more fantastic and we can see four of the seven highest peaks of Nepal, Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. Reaching the fourth lake, Thonak Tsho we take pleasure in the lake’s serene beauty after which we trek back along the retracing trail to the third lake. We may take an additional hike up to the fifth lake, Ngozumba Tsho if time permits and depending on our physical conditions. From here, the view of Ngozumba glacier, the longest glacier of the Himalayas, is so fascinating.
Overnight in Gokyo.

DAY 10: GOKYO TO THAGNAK (4750 M/15,580 FT): 4KM, 4 - 5 HOURS
If we did not climb the Gokyo Ri the previous day, we can do that today. Climbing to the top of Gokyo Ri is demanding as it is steep and takes about 3 to 4 hours to reach the top. But the scenery of Gokyo village, on the edge of the third lake overlooked by Cholatse and the broad Nogzumpa Glacier, is magnificent. We are surrounded by panoramic mountains like Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, Kangtega, Taboche, Cholatse, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Changtse, and Pumori. The sight of sunrays kissing Everest which towers over all the surrounding peaks is astounding. We trek through the Ngazumpa Glacier to the mountain on the other side. Next, traverse along the edge of that mountain and then meander into Thagnak. It will be a short hike today with an afternoon of rest which will prepare us for long hiking days and elevation gain to come.

DAY 11: THAGNAK TO CHO LA PASS (5,367M/17,604 FT) TO DZONGLA (15, 939 FT): 7KM, 7 - 8 HOURS
Today is going to be one of the toughest days of the trip. The Cho La pass is not itself difficult, but it is steep and involves a glacier traverse on the eastern side. We need to be careful as the trail is vertical and the rocks glazed by ice may cause trouble by making the trail slippery. The trail from Phedi climbs through a ravine and a rocky trail. While trekking through the side of a frozen lake, we reach the top of the pass decorated with prayer flags. The pyramidal Ama Dablam presides over a range of mountains on the south even as Cholatse soars to the west and Lobuche East and Baruntse rises sharply to our right. We need to pass through some crevasses before we reach Dzongla Village. The village provides great views of Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Lobuche mountains along with the Pheriche Village far below.

DAY 12: DZONGLA TO LOBUCHE (4940 M/16,207 FT): 6KM, 2 - 3 HOURS
This will be a very short trek so we have a lot of time to relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. We climb down from Dzongla and walk through a grassy trail while enjoying the view of Lobuche Peak. The trail curves through the wide river bed before reaching Lobuche. We can spend the rest of day taking a rest which will help us prepare for the next day’s long trek.
Overnight in Lobuche.

DAY 13: LOBUCHE TO GORAK SHEP (5,170 M/16,961FT), VISIT EVEREST BASE CAMP (5,364 M/17,594 FT): 13KM, 6-7 HOURS
We take the trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorak Shep Lake. Continuing straight ahead, we come across the Indian army mountaineers' memorials. The path from here can be misleading; hence, it is important that we follow our lead Sherpa diligently. The walk is strenuous due to thin air in the high altitude. We pass through rocky dunes, moraine, and streams before reaching the Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, we see tents of mountaineers that stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surroundings (especially in the spring). Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori are the mountains we can view from the base camp. We get back to Gorak Shep for a good night's rest. Overnight in Gorak Shep. However, the sunset view from Kala Patthar is more admirable than the sunrise view, so it is recommended that we visit Kala Patthar today during sunset. As the setting sun's rays strike the snow-capped mountains, the resulting scenery is incredible. Therefore, for those trekkers who wish to continue to Kala Patthar today instead of the next day please inform your guide and he/she will coordinate accordingly.

DAY 14: GORAK SHEP TO KALA PATTHAR (5,545M/18,192FT) TO PHERICE (4,288M/14,070FT): 16KM, 7-8 HOURS
We prepare for an early morning departure, amid pre-dawn darkness and cold temperatures (-10 to -14 C). Plus, there is always the potential for chilly winds which are quite common. Familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse tower to the east even as Everest begins to reveal itself. But, it is upon reaching Kala Patthar that we get to see 360 degree up-close and formidable views of Mt. Everest. We take pictures, enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama, and then return back to Lobuche for a good night's rest. Overnight in Lobuche. Those participants who will visit Everest Base Camp today will have an early breakfast to start early as Everest base camp hike takes longer than the hike at Kala Patthar. After returning to Gorak Shep, both the groups will have lunch together; the afternoon is taken to descend down to Pheriche for a good night's rest.

DAY 15: PHERICHE TO NAMCHE BAZAAR: 20KM, 6 - 7 HOURS
We trek down through the hillside blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees. After crossing the prayer-flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, our trail follows the Dudh Koshi gorge descending rapidly through pine forests. In the forest, we may come across colorful pheasants and mountain goats. The path eventually reaches Sansa from where we can enjoy views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Nuptse mountains. We also pass winding trails then through a forest before reaching Namche Bazaar.
Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

DAY 16: NAMCHE BAZAAR TO LUKLA (2,860M/9,186FT): 19KM, 6 - 7 HOURS
The trail descends steeply downward so we need to walk cautiously as our shaky legs continuously battle the rocky terrain. After crossing the suspension bridges over the fast flowing Dudh Koshi and its tributaries, the trail becomes more level and natural. After our arrival in Lukla, we stretch those sore legs and recall the experiences of the last couple of days.
Overnight in Lukla.

DAY 17: FLY TO KATHMANDU
We catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu after our long mountain journey. After reaching Kathmandu, we can take a rest or do some souvenir shopping. If we want to explore any other areas of Kathmandu, we may do that today. Our guides can help you with both souvenir shopping or sightseeing. There will be a farewell dinner in the evening to celebrate the successful completion of our journey.
Overnight in Kathmandu.
